Oddly good... Looks grim from the outside but persevere. The interior is truly charming, good fire, dog friendly, good collection of ale. We booked a room and the entrance to the hotel part again makes you feel nervous. But then you open your room door to deep carpets, solid wood furniture (I'm thinking from a recent posh hotel refurbishment) with a good bed and nice crisp linen. Bargain... Would definitely go back... Loved it.

Nostalgic revisit. Lived in the area 25 years ago and it hadn't changed. Had a nice garden in the summer.
Lived it here, proper country type Ake House serving all types of beers and food.Accomodation dated but nice and warm.Recommended
I was extremely surprised by the genuine friendliness of every member of this hotels staff and owners. The room (no 11) which was allocated to me was lovely, it had a great sized bath too, which is not common these days, the food, cooked by Rob I believe was absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble, even when it was approaching end of service, they still accommodated my requests. I cant recommend this hotel enough. I loved it and I will be back in March next year, hopefully in room 11 again.
